WORK COMMENCES AT CLAUGHTON ROAD SITE
Castlewood Developments (Birkenhead) Limited, in a joint venture with Pochin Developments Ltd, is undertaking enabling works prior to the proposed construction of the 8,826 sq m (95,000 sq ft) new superstore, located between Grange Road and Claughton Road in Birkenhead town centre.
These initial works will involve the diversion of some existing gas, water and electricity services to a new route, prior to main construction, as well as some minor tree felling. In addition to the new superstore, the development will see the existing Oliver Street car park increase in size from 400 to just under 700 spaces.
On the enabling works, Robert Shaw of Castlewood Developments (Birkenhead) Ltd comments: "The diversion of these services in the town centre will be professionally supervised and we are working closely with Wirral Borough Council to ensure there is minimal disruption to this important part of the town. These enabling works are necessary to avoid further disruption to the town centre when construction commences on the major regeneration project."
