SILVER SERVICE FOR POCHIN’S
Following the completion of sites in Wrexham and Cheadle, Pochin (Contractors) Ltd has secured a further project with JCB Cab Systems, marking a 25-year working relationship between the two companies.
The £1.8 million deal will see the Cheshire based contractor extend JCB's current facility in Rugeley with the creation of an additional 30,000 sq ft of shop floor space. to create a 2,700 sq m (27,205 sq ft) framed and clad sheet production building. Pochin's will also be working on a 6,000 sq m concrete storage yard and a new employee car park which will accommodate 78 extra vehicles.
The completed site will be home to the production of all JCB machinery, as Nigel Chell of JCB Cab Systems said: "JCB Cab Systems has grown rapidly since the first JCB cabs were manufactured there in 1999. Production has increased almost 10-fold in seven years and today we manufacture more than 30,000 cabs a year. This, coupled with a rising employment rate of 300 people, means that the expansion is essential and we are confident that Pochin's understand this and will do an excellent job."
Added Stuart Hetherington, contracts manager for the scheme: "We are pleased to have further cemented our relationship with JCB and look forward to commencing on site."
The works are expected to complete in November this year.
