POCHIN’S HIT THE STAGE AT BROADWAY
Pochin's (Contractors) Ltd has commenced work to build the £5 million Broadway apartment scheme on behalf of its client Prospect (GB) Ltd.
The first phase of the scheme will be known as Broadway and, following a competitive tender, Pochin's will now build 60 apartments as part of Phase One.
The design of the building incorporates a number of innovative elements and, due to height concerns, a concrete frame with a flat slab was deemed the most appropriate structure. The plot will comprise of xx storeys with undercroft car parking totalling xxxxxx sq m (xxxxxxx sq ft). Cost constraints and the type of ground resulted in a pile foundation solution, known as CFA being chosen as the most effective solution. Whole house ventilation with heat recovery will also be installed to enable heat to be exchanged efficiently.
Project manager on the scheme, Geoff Duggan comments: "I believe our attention to value engineering was one of the most fundamental reasons for being awarded the contract. We presented various solutions, which would help reduce costs without compromising on quality. We hope to complete construction by Spring 2006 and provide occupiers with affordable accommodation which continues to boost the regeneration programme in this area."
