POCHIN PAVES THE WAY FOR MIDDLEWICH RAMBLERS
12 March 2009
Pochin Developments has successfully diverted a section of public footpath (no. 22) to accommodate a new development and improve the route for a popular pastime of many Middlewich locals.
Pochin Development's achieved planning permission in April 2008 to divert the footpath on Plot 35, Pochin Way on its Midpoint 18 Business Park in Middlewich. Following a full consultation with the Public Rights of Way officer and the Congleton Group Ramblers Association, a diversion order was made to relocate the footpath to a more suitable position, enabling Pochin's development plans for the plot to be carried out and allowing local rambling enthusiasts to continue to enjoy the route.
Pochin's Property Director, Brian Reay commented: "We know the impact a Business Park, such as Midpoint 18, can have on a community and therefore we place a great deal of importance on working closely with the Middlewich residents and local organisations to ensure that we can accommodate their needs when ever we plan new development.
"The Middlewich area has some high quality countryside and has proved to be a real hotspot for Cheshire's active rambling societies for many years. By improving the footpath we not only hope to have enhanced the footpath network as a whole, but also have encouraged this important Cheshire pastime to be maintained. The combination of new development close to high quality surroundings provides an ideal location for local business."
Mike Bolton, Public Rights of Way Maintenance and Enforcement
Officer at Cheshire County Council added: "The footpath was
originally a muddy farm track with no particular appeal. It is now
an agreeable meandering path by the side of a small brook. It will
be a pleasant walk in the spring and summer and will be a valuable
link in the local footpath network."
