POCHIN HOMES TO BUILD SOCIAL HOUSING PROJECT AT ELLESMERE PORT

20 April 2010

Pochin Homes Limited, part of Cheshire based Pochin's PLC, has negotiated a contract worth £1.19m to provide social housing at Ellesmere Port on behalf of CDS Housing Association.

Pochin Homes are to build 14 houses in four areas of Ellesmere Port, comprising Richmond Court, Brancepeth Court, Raby Court and Durham Court. The new housing accommodation will total approximately 1,133 sq ft (12,200 sq ft) and will be made up of two and three bed semi-detached and terraced homes.

This development follows the successful completion of circa £3.9m worth of social housing completed by Pochin Homes over the last 18 months throughout the North West and Midlands areas.

Of the new contract, John Russell, Commercial Director of Pochin Homes commented "This scheme is the culmination of months of hard work by all parties involved, including Cheshire West and Chester Council, Dane Plus Group and Pochin Homes Limited to increase the amount of affordable housing in the Ellesmere Port area. We are pleased to play a part in helping to bring this strategy to life and it is fantastic to be part of a project that will bring much needed affordable accommodation to the local community.

"Works commenced last week are scheduled to complete in Autumn this year.

"This further increases our commitment to working in partnerships with social housing providers, where our expertise and experience as private house-builders can be utilised to ensure developments are completed on time and within budget, whilst at the same time continuing our own speculative housing developments.

"We hope in the near future to be able to announce further substantial developments where we have engaged with partners and the local community to provide circa £16.75m worth of social residential and community schemes."
