NORTH SHROPSHIRE DISTRICT COUNCIL ACQUIRES LAND AT POCHIN’S CREAMERY WHARF
8 April 2009
Pochin Developments has secured the sale of 1.1 acres of land at its Ellesmere Wharf redevelopment site to North Shropshire District Council.
The land, which forms part of the 31-acre former Creamery site, has been earmarked to house a medical centre to service the local community.
The mixed-use development will also include live-work units, a care home, retirement apartments and extra care sheltered housing. As well as residential dwellings, a food store, public house, café, restaurant, pharmacy, crèche and car parking are planned. In addition to the new public square already built, the development will also provide nature areas and comprehensive landscaping throughout the site.
Bob Nicholson, Senior Project Manager at Pochin Developments commented: "Work is progressing well on site and the recent sale to North Shropshire District Council signifies our commitment to creating a scheme which will provide invaluable services to the local community.
"The first phase of new infrastructure has already been delivered, alongside the new public square, which was handed over in December last year. In addition, the contractors for Tesco are already on site, with the store scheduled for completion later this year."
