ELLESMERE TOWN GETS PUBLIC SQUARE FOR CHRISTMAS

Pochin Developments Ltd, has handed over the public square at Ellesmere Wharf in Shropshire to Ellesmere Town Council. This means that the square is now open and can be used by the town and its residents.

The handover marks the completion of the first phase of infrastructure works on the 31.5-acre site including a new access road, service diversions and provisions for the site.

This mixed development will include live-work units, a care home, retirement apartments and extra care sheltered housing. As well as the residential dwellings, a foodstore, public house, café, restaurant, a medical centre, pharmacy, a crèche and car parking will be provided. In addition to the new public square already built, the development will also provide nature areas and comprehensive landscaping throughout the site.

Bob Nicholson, Senior Project Manager commented: "We would like to say a special thank you to Ellesmere Town Council and Barbara Harrington, the Town Clerk for their assistance in helping us reach this milestone. We managed to hand over just in time for Father Christmas' visit to the town, arriving by canal boat!

"Our focus now moves onto the main redevelopment of the former creamery site. The contractors for Tesco are already on site and when the store is complete in 2009, it will tie perfectly into the public square area."
