EDUCATION, EDUCATION, EDUCATION FOR POCHIN CONSTRUCTION!
7 September 2009
Pochin Construction Ltd, part of Cheshire-based Pochin's PLC, is expanding its education portfolio, with three new contract wins for schools and colleges across the North West.
The first of the new contracts, worth £1.9m, will see Pochin construct a new 1,100 sq m (11,840 sq ft) building at The Grange Junior School in Hartford, Cheshire. The new build, which is designed to be in-keeping with the existing school buildings, will comprise; a new sports hall with changing facilities, a music department with practice rooms and a science and technology area with fully fitted laboratories. Pochin will start on site on 24th August in a build programme of 47 weeks.
In a contract worth £900,000, Pochin Construction has also been appointed to build a new sports hall at All Saints College in Rawtenstall. The new 730 sq m (7,857 sq ft) sports hall will provide students with access to a range of sports including basketball, five a side football and indoor cricket. Work will commence on 24th August and is scheduled for completion in December 2009.
Finally, Pochin has been awarded a contract worth just under half a million pounds, which will see Pochin Construction build a new 431 sq m (4,650 sq ft) single storey classroom block at Westwood College in Leek. Approximately half of the new block will be used as a drama and dance studio for students, with the remainder of the building providing additional classroom facilities for the colleges already established English department. Pochin started on site in early August and work is scheduled to take 25 weeks to complete.
On the contract wins, Jon Pochin, managing director of Pochin Construction, commented: "Pochin Construction is building an impressive portfolio within the education sector. In addition to our work at Bangor University, we are currently on site at Mid-Cheshire College, building what will be known as the Winsford Learning Zone. These three latest contracts are evidence that the Pochin name is becoming synonymous with the improvement of education facilities across the Northwest of England and Wales, and this is certainly an area that we hope to grow in the future."
Winsford Learning Zone is due for completion in March 2010 and will provide a centre for educational excellence for Winsford, delivering a range of high quality courses for the whole community.
